What is being prepared?
In our last newsletter we introduced the challenge of Be Prepared!
After 120 years in business, we have found most people purchase insurance when it is needed, then forget about it. Although we spend our day continuously advising and making recommendations, we occasionally discover a client who has not reviewed their account in 10-15 years. It is exactly for that reason that we need your help in managing your account. We will be inviting you to meet in our office for a face to face meeting to ask questions, discuss non-insurance strategies and introduce recommendations. We find that those who proactively update their insurance plan are much happier when they have to use it. This is not an attempt to sell you more insurance, but an opportunity to maximize the dollars you currently spend. There may be some new discounts or coverage options you are not taking advantage of. We encourage you to take advantage of this opportunity to update your plan, so your insurance responds as it should, when you need it most.
Webster defines "Prepare" or to be "Prepared" as
1. To make ready beforehand for some purpose, use, or activity
2. To put in a proper state of mind
3. To work out the details of
4. Plan in advance
Being prepared requires "Proactive" effort before an event occurs. In the insurance world we find that people who are "proactive" in their risk planning, weather losses much better than those who manage their risk "reactively". Proper planning can lessen the impact of a tragedy, or even allow you to avoid a loss all together.
